Our speciality of pressure turning provides precision at a low price<\/h2>\n

Our speciality is pressure turning, a method of shaping sheet metal parts up to 1,800 mm in diameter which is ideal for short production runs or pure prototype manufacture. The method offers a low initial cost for tools and a competitive price, generally for runs of up to 10,000 items per year.<\/p>\n

We also offer deep drawing<\/strong> and hydro-mechanical forming as alternatives for producing large runs or more complex shapes. This can also be combined with pressure turning to produce rounded edges etc. All for optimised cost-effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Hermanders also handles bending<\/strong>, punching and welding, and we can take overall responsibility including finishes such as paint, chrome or nickel-plating or anodising.<\/p>\n

This is pressure turning<\/h2>\n

Pressure turning means shaping sheet metal by rotating it and applying heavy pressure against a forming tool. The method is old and well-proven but demands a large measure of craftsman\u2019s skill and material knowledge even when using high-tech equipment. It takes several years to acquire the skills needed by the staff to carry out the work with precision and a feel for the material. At Hermanders, we have this knowledge. We have been working with pressure turning since 1951 and our internal training programmes mean that the staff are well-versed in the craft.<\/p>\n

The method is ideal<\/strong> and very competitive for producing smaller runs and prototypes, as the initial cost is low. The tool, the form or matrix that the sheet is shaped against, is relatively cheap to make. We handle tool production within our own four walls.<\/p>\n

Pressure turning can handle<\/strong> sheet of more or less any quality up to 15\u00a0mm thick, depending on the material. The size of the finished product may be from a few centimetres to 1,800 millimetres in diameter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
